Hamilton County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Syracuse . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in western Kansas, borders Colorado and has an area of ​​2584 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. In Kansas, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Greeley County , Wichita County , Kearny County , Grant County, and Stanton Counties .

Hamilton County was formed on March 20, 1873. It became self-administered on January 29, 1886. It was named after Alexander Hamilton , an American general and statesman.

As of the 2000 census , there were 2,670 people in Hamilton County. Of these, 43 people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 1,054 households and 715 families.
