Meade County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Meade . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in southwest Kansas, bordering Oklahoma to the south and has an area of ​​2537 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. history

Meade County was formed on March 20, 1873. It was named after the Spanish- born George Gordon Meade , a general of the Northern States in the American Civil War and commander of US troops in the Battle of Gettysburg, which lasted from July 1 to 3, 1863, and then commander of the Army of the Potomac until the end of the war.

Only construction of the county that's Fowler Swimming Pool and Bathhouse in the National Register of Historic Places listed (as of August 30, 2017).

According to the 2000 census , Meade County had 4,631 people in 1,728 households and 1,252 families in Meade County. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer.
