Cloud County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Concordia .

The county is located in northern Kansas, about 25 miles from Nebraska , and has an area of 1,861 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Republic County , Washington County , Clay County , Ottawa County , Mitchell County, and Jewell County .
history
Cloud County was formed as the original free territory county on February 27, 1850 and is one of the first 33 counties to be formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after a Northern officer in the American Civil War .

According to the 2000 census , Cloud County had 10,268 people. 662 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 4,163 households and 2,697 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.30 percent white, 0.34 percent African American, 0.25 percent Native American, 0.25 percent Asian and 0.13 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.73 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.60 percent of the population.
Of the 4,163 households, 27.1 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 55.1 percent were married couples living together, 6.6 percent were single mothers, and 35.2 percent were non-families. 30.8 percent of all households were single households and 15.9 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.89 people.
22.4 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 10.4 percent between 18 and 24 years, 21.9 percent between 25 and 44 years, 22.2 percent between 45 and 64 years and 23.2 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 90.6 males. For every 100 adult women aged 18 and over there were 86.6 men.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 31,758 , and the median income for a family was $ 39,745. Males had a median income of $ 27,166 versus $ 20,114 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,536. 6.4 percent of families and 10.8 percent of the population are below the poverty line.
