Cloud County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Concordia .

The county is located in northern Kansas, about 25 miles from Nebraska , and has an area of ​​1,861 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Republic County , Washington County , Clay County , Ottawa County , Mitchell County, and Jewell County .

history

Cloud County was formed as the original free territory county on February 27, 1850 and is one of the first 33 counties to be formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after a Northern officer in the American Civil War .

According to the 2000 census , Cloud County had 10,268 people. 662 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 4,163 households and 2,697 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.30 percent white, 0.34 percent African American, 0.25 percent Native American, 0.25 percent Asian and 0.13 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.73 percent were descended from two or more races. The median income for a household in the city was $ 31,758 , and the median income for a family was $ 39,745. Males had a median income of $ 27,166 versus $ 20,114 for females.
