Coffey County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Burlington .

The county is located in east central Kansas, about 50 miles from Missouri , and has an area of ​​1,695 square kilometers, of which 64 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Osage County , Franklin County , Anderson County , Allen County , Woodson County , Greenwood County, and Lyon County .

history

Coffey County was formed as the original free territory county on August 30, 1855, and is one of the first 33 counties to be formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after AM Coffey , a colonel in the US Army.

Coffey County's population was 8,865 as of the 2000 census . 170 of them lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 3489 households and 2477 families.
