The county is located in east Kansas, borders Missouri, and has an area of 1,528 square kilometers, of which 35 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Miami County was formed on August 25, 1855 and is one of the first 33 counties to be formed by the first Territorial Administration. It was named after the Miami , a Native American tribe.
Historical objects
Northwest of Osawatomie and southeast of Stanton on 335th Street is Carey's Ford Bridge . The bridge, completed in 1909, was listed on January 4, 1990 by the National Register of Historic Places under the number 89002179. A total of 14 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of August 30, 2017).

The racial the population was composed of 95.2 percent white, 1.3 percent African American, 0.6 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.9 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.5 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
