Kingfisher County is a county in the state of Oklahoma in the United States . The county seat is Kingfisher .

The county is located northwest of the geographic center of Oklahoma and covers an area of ​​2,346 square kilometers, of which 8 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Garfield County , Logan County , Canadian County , Blaine County, and Major Counties .

history

Kingfisher County was formed as the original county in 1890. It was named, like the district capital, after Kingfisher Creek , which flows through the county. The county was settled by white settlers during the first official land occupation ( Oklahoma Land Run ) on April 22, 1889.

The Seay Mansion is one of ten entries for the county in the NRHP.

Ten buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of June 2, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Kingfisher County had 13,926 people in 5,247 households and 3,893 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer.
