Pushmataha County is a county in the state of Oklahoma in the United States . The county seat is Antlers .

The county is located almost in the extreme southeast of Oklahoma and has an area of ​​3,685 square kilometers, of which 66 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Latimer County , Le Flore County , McCurtain County , Choctaw County , Atoka County, and Pittsburg County .

history

Pushmataha County was formed as the original county from Choctaw Land on July 16, 1907 . It was named after the Pushmataha District in the Choctaw area .

The Antlers Frisco Depot is one of seven entries for the county in the NRHP.

Seven buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of June 6, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Pushmataha County had 11,667 people in 4,739 households and 3,288 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 77.97 percent white, 0.82 percent African American, 15.59 percent Native American, 0.10 percent Asian, 0.06 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.29 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 5.16 percent were descended from two or more races.
