Pushmataha County is a county in the state of Oklahoma in the United States . The county seat is Antlers .

The county is located almost in the extreme southeast of Oklahoma and has an area of 3,685 square kilometers, of which 66 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Latimer County , Le Flore County , McCurtain County , Choctaw County , Atoka County, and Pittsburg County .
history
Pushmataha County was formed as the original county from Choctaw Land on July 16, 1907 . It was named after the Pushmataha District in the Choctaw area .
Seven buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of June 6, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Pushmataha County had 11,667 people in 4,739 households and 3,288 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 77.97 percent white, 0.82 percent African American, 15.59 percent Native American, 0.10 percent Asian, 0.06 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.29 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 5.16 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.64 percent of the population.
Of the 4,739 households, 30.2 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 55.3 percent were married couples living together, 10.8 percent were single mothers. 30.6 percent were not families, 27.9 percent were single households, and 14.2 percent of the households had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.94 people.
26.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 6.6 percent between 18 and 24, 24.0 percent between 25 and 44, 25.2 percent between 45 and 64 and 18.3 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 92.5 males. For every 100 women aged 18 years or older, there were 90.4 men.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 22,127 , and the median income for a family is $ 27,808. Males had a median income of $ 25,509 versus women of $ 17,473. The per capita income was $ 12,864. 18.8 percent of families and 23.2 percent of the population are below the poverty line.
