Monday February 1, 1993
- Helsinki / Finland , Stockholm / Sweden , Vienna / Austria : The three states and the institutions of the European Union begin negotiations on the accession of the countries.
- Sarajevo / Bosnia and Herzegovina : After several days of preparatory work, the first meters of an escape tunnel from Sarajevo are being excavated to alleviate civil suffering as a result of the Serbian siege . Bad weather, lack of work equipment, shelling and other reasons hinder the work.
Thursday 4th February 1993
- Vienna / Austria : After differences of opinion with FPÖ party leader Jörg Haider , five members of the National Council leave the FPÖ and found the Liberal Forum .
Sunday 7th February 1993
- Dauphin County / United States : At the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania , a man behind the wheel of a car breaks all the barriers and finally stops in the turbine hall. At this point the nuclear reactor is fully operational. The man cannot be arrested until hours later and then admitted to a psychiatric clinic. The public is not informed.
- Vaduz / Liechtenstein : In the state elections , the socially conservative Fatherland Union and the Christian conservative Progressive Citizens' Party are almost on par. To form a government they must form a coalition or there will be a new election.
Monday February 8, 1993
- Bratislava / Slovakia , Prague / Czech Republic : A good month after the end of Czechoslovakia, the Czechoslovak crown is no longer an official means of payment. It is replaced by the Czech crown in the Czech Republic and the Slovak crown in Slovakia .
- Tehran / Iran : In the collision of a starting Tupolev Tu-154 of the airline Iran Airtour with a landing Sukhoi Su-22 , all 131 occupants of the Tupolev and both of the Sukhoi die.
Thursday February 11, 1993
- Berlin / Germany : The 43rd Berlin International Film Festival begins. Festival director Moritz de Hadeln announced that this year the directors Gregory Peck and Billy Wilder would be honored with the Honorary Golden Bear .
- Stockholm / Sweden : The Czech national ice hockey team defeated the representation of Russia 6-1 in their first game after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia .
- Washington, DC / United States : US President Bill Clinton nominates Janet Reno for the post of Attorney General . If approved by the US Senate , she would be the first woman in this position.

- Vienna / Austria : The Federal Equal Treatment Act is published in the Federal Law Gazette, which requires the federal government as an employer to treat female employees identically to male employees.
Saturday 13th February 1993
- Bonn / Germany : The Human Environment Animal Welfare Party (MUT) is founded. Ingeborg Bingener is unanimously elected first federal chairman.
- Hamburg / Germany : The German boxer Markus Bott secures the world title in the cruiserweight division of the WBO organization with a victory on points against the American Tyrone Booze .

- Debrecen / Hungary : The states of Poland , Slovakia , Ukraine and Hungary found the Carpathian Euroregion .
- Pristina / Yugoslavia : The Kosovar national soccer team plays their first, albeit unofficial, game and loses 3-1 to the Albanian national team .
Monday February 15, 1993
- Bratislava / Slovakia : The National Council elects Michal Kováč from the strongest party HZDS as the first president of the new Slovak state. He embodies a compromise solution after Roman Kováč, originally proposed by his party, missed the consensus quorum in all election rounds.
- Dresden / Germany : Stefanie Rehm ( CDU ) resigns as Saxon State Minister for Culture after two and a half years . Since 1991 some teachers in the Free State have complained about the review of their CVs. You see in the proceedings politically motivated “cleansing” of the school staff at the instigation of the minister.
- Zittau / Germany : The Zittau International University Institute is founded. The joint training of students and doctoral candidates in the fields of business administration , industrial engineering , environmental technology and social sciences in the border triangle of Poland , the Czech Republic and Germany is planned.
Wednesday 17th February 1993
- Berlin / Germany : The Dutch Linda de Mol and Margarethe Schreinemakers are awarded the Golden Camera as best TV presenters .
- Haiti : The Neptune ferry sinks off Haiti. It is estimated that between 500 and 1,000 people die.

- Bratislava / Slovakia : The National Council sets u. a. the new look of the flag of Slovakia . The coat of arms of the former Slovak republic of Czechoslovakia is replaced by the coat of arms of Slovakia .

- Cologne / Germany : The TV station RTL sets the Adult - Game show Tutti Frutti , which modeled on the Italian show Colpo Grosso was, after about three years maturity from. The program was hosted by Hugo Egon Balder .
Monday February 22, 1993
- Berlin / Germany : The jury of the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival honors the films The Women from the Lake of Fragrant Souls by director Xie Fei and The Wedding Banquet by Ang Lee as the best entries of the festival with the Golden Bear .

- Los Angeles / United States : At the 35th Grammy Awards , u. a. the Berliner Philharmoniker and the American conductor Leonard Bernstein, who died in 1990, for their recording of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 9.
Friday February 26, 1993
- New York / United States : A urea nitrate bomb detonates in the underground car park of the World Trade Center . As a result, six people are killed and around 1,000 more are injured. The stability of the two 110-story buildings is not affected by the explosion.
