The 1997 IBSF World Snooker Championship was the 24th edition of the World Amateur Snooker Championship . It took place from November 15 to 29, 1997 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo ( Zimbabwe ).
World champion was Marco Fu from Hong Kong, who had already become U21 world champion two months earlier . In the final he defeated defending champion Stuart Bingham from England with 11:10.
