Kalkofen is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Nordpfälzer Land , which has its administrative headquarters in the municipality of Rockenhausen and an additional administrative office in Alsenz .

Geographical location

The community is located in the Ohlbachtal north of the Palatinate Forest Nature Park , between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach . Alsenz lies to the south-west, in the north-east is Winterborn .

history

The community was first mentioned in a document in 1365.

politics

Municipal council

The council in lime kiln consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Local mayor

The local mayor is Willi Schattauer. In the constituent meeting of the municipal council in July 2019, he was elected unanimously and thus took up his fifth term.

Economy and Infrastructure

In 1960 there were still around 40 full-time farms in Kalkofen, employing 60% of the population. In the meantime Kalkofen has developed into an almost exclusive residential community .

The L 403 runs through the village . There is a connection to long-distance traffic via the A 63 in the east and the A 61 in the northeast.
