M. the highest point of Molondin. In 1997, 4% of the municipal area was accounted for by settlements, 29% for forests and woodlands and 67% for agriculture.

economy
Until the second half of the 20th century, Molondin was predominantly an agricultural village. Even today, arable farming , fruit growing and cattle breeding play an important role in the income structure of the population. Further jobs are available in small businesses and in the service sector. The water power of the Flonzel was previously used by a mill and a sawmill. In the past few decades, Molondin has also developed into a residential community. Some workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in Yverdon .
traffic
The community is located off the main thoroughfares, but can be easily reached from Donneloye and Yvonand . The Postbus course, which runs from Yverdon to Thierrens , also serves the town of Molondin at certain times of the day.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1380 under the names Mollendens and Mollondens . In 1422 the name Molondens appeared and in 1437 Molandens . In 1867 the spelling Mollondin was still used.
Since it was first mentioned, Molondin belonged to the lordship of Saint-Martin-du-Chêne. In the Middle Ages, this was a powerful rule, whose castle stood on the spur between the deeply cut valleys of the Flonzel and the Ruisseau des Vaux in the Molondin area. The small town of Saint-Martin developed around the castle in the 13th century. The dominion of Saint-Martin-du-Chêne was divided into two fiefdoms in 1360. The castle was occupied by the Confederates during the Burgundian Wars in 1475 and completely destroyed in 1536. As a result, the center of the rule was moved to Chavannes-le-Chêne , and the town of Saint-Martin was also abandoned.
With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, Molondin came under the administration of the Bailiwick of Yverdon . After the collapse of the Ancien Régime , the village belonged to the canton of Léman from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic, which then became part of the canton of Vaud when the mediation constitution came into force . In 1798 it was assigned to the Yverdon district.
Attractions
The 18th and 19th century farmhouses in Molondin all have a gable orientation from west-south-west to east-north-east. The reformed church was built in 1955. The only witness to the former rule of Saint-Martin-du-Chêne is the Tour de Saint-Martin. The mighty tower from the 12th century was once the keep of the castle. In the area around the tower, some remains of the wall are still visible.
