Moore County is a county in the state of Tennessee in the United States . The county is congruent with the city of Lynchburg .

The county is located in southern Tennessee, about 22 miles from Alabama , and covers an area of 338 square kilometers, of which 3 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Coffee County , Franklin County , Lincoln County, and Bedford Counties .
history
Moore County was formed on December 14, 1871, from parts of Bedford County, Coffee County, Franklin County and Lincoln County. It was named after Major General William Moore .
Six buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of August 26, 2018).

According to the 2000 census , Moore County had 5,740 people in 2,211 households and 1,686 families. The population density was 17 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.84 percent white, 2.72 percent African American, 0.19 percent Native American, 0.14 percent Asian and 0.51 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.61 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.78 percent of the population.
Of the 2,211 households, 30.7 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 65.1 percent were married couples living together, 7.6 percent were single mothers, and 23.7 percent were non-families. 21.4 percent were single households and 11.1 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.55 and the average household size was 2.95 people.
23.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.4 percent between 18 and 24, 26.5 percent between 25 and 44, 26.3 percent between 45 and 64 and 15.5 percent were older than 65. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 98.1 males and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 97.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 36,591 , and the median income for a family was $ 41,484. Males had a median income of $ 31,559 versus $ 20,987 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,040. 9.6 percent of the population and 7.8 percent of families lived below the poverty line.
