The county is near the geographic center of Missouri in the Ozarks on the north bank of the Lake of the Ozarks , a reservoir of the Osage River . It has an area of 1590 square kilometers, of which 43 square kilometers are water. The following neighboring counties border Morgan County:

history
Morgan County was formed in 1833. It was named after Daniel Morgan (1736-1802), a member of the United States Congress and general in the American Revolutionary War .
Demographic data
As of the 2010 census , Morgan County had 20,565 people in 8,414 households. The population density was 13.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.4 people lived in each of the 8,414 households.
The racial the population was composed of 96.3 percent white, 0.9 percent African American, 0.7 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.7 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 1.8 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
21.6 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 55.7 percent were between 18 and 64 and 22.7 percent were 65 years or older. 50.2 percent of the population was female.
