Senailly is located about seven kilometers southwest of Montbard in the Région naturelle Auxois on the western edge of the department.

Senailly is located in the river Seine catchment area . The Armançon , a tributary of the Yonne , crosses the territory of the municipality together with its tributary, the Ruisseau de la Belle Fontaine.

The municipality received the “A Flower” award from the Conseil national des Villes et Villes Fleuris (CNVVF) as part of the annual competition for cities and towns decorated with flowers.

Population development

When the records began, the population peaked at around 345. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell until the 1930s, when it has since stabilized at around 150 inhabitants.

Attractions

chapel

Opposite the parish church is a chapel that is a remnant of a 12th century priory . A small bell rider can be seen on its roof, hiding a bell that has struck a little. In the interior of the church, the remains of a colored wall painting can be seen above the altar . The chapel was restored a good 20 years ago as it had deteriorated more and more over time.
