The western part of Branson is a well-known tourist destination in Stone County .
geography
The county is located in southwest Missouri in the middle of the Ozarks on the White River dammed up to Table Rock Lake . It borders Arkansas to the south and has an area of 1323 square kilometers, of which 123 square kilometers are water. The following counties border Stone County:

Stone County was formed in 1851 from former parts of Greene and Taney Counties. It was named after John W. Stone from Tennessee , one of the first white settlers in the region.
The first of whites operated settlement was made in 1806 by Joseph Philibert , who was accompanied by two Delaware - Indians the White River had come up.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Stone County had 32,202 people in 13,529 households. The population density was 26.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.35 people lived in each of the 13,529 households.
The racial the population was composed of 97.2 percent white, 0.2 percent African American, 0.6 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.4 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.7 percent of the population.
18.7 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 56.9 percent were between 18 and 64 and 24.4 percent were 65 years or older. 50.7 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was 41,351 USD . The per capita income was $ 21,748. 16.0 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
