In the 1997/1998 season of the Regionalliga Nordost , the SHV took 1st place and was promoted directly to the 2nd Bundesliga, North Season .

2005/2006 season

In the 2005/06 season of the 2nd Bundesliga, North Season , the SHV and coach Holger Schneider ( Germany ) took 7th place. Out of 38 games, 19 were won, 15 were drawn and 14 were lost. 1118 goals scored were compared to 1053 goals against Stralsund.

In the 2006 DHB Cup , the SHV won the first round at VfL Viktoria Menninghüffen with 34:19 (18:11). In the second round, the Stralsund team retired at home against HSV Hamburg after a 21:30 (10:14).

In the 2006/07 season of the 2nd Bundesliga, North Staffel , the Stralsund HV, trained by Holger Schneider ( Germany ), took 2nd place.

The SHV had won 27 out of 34 games. Two games were drawn and the Stralsund club lost five games. 1083 goals were scored against 927 opposing goals.

The qualifying games for the relegation played the SHV against the second of the season south, TSV Dormagen . After a 31:31 in Dormagen, the SHV lost with 27:30 in Stralsund, and thus remained in the 2nd Bundesliga, North Season .

In the 2006/07 DHB Cup , the SHV won the first round at SC Irxleben with 41:15 (19: 8). The club did not have to compete in the second round, it was qualified for the third round. The opponent there, TSG Groß-Bieberau , decided not to host the game. In the round of 16 the SHV lost at home to TBV Lemgo with 31:35 (17:17).

In the 2007/08 season of the 2nd Bundesliga, North Staffel , the SHV took 1st place under coach Holger Schneider ( Germany ) and thus rose to the 1st Bundesliga for the second time in its history .

Out of 34 games, 27 were won. One game ended in a draw and six games were lost. 1,078 goals were scored against 930 opposing goals.

In the 2007/08 DHB Cup , the SHV won the first round at Eintracht Hildesheim with 35:34 after extra time (29:29, 14:13). In the second round, the club was eliminated at home against SG Flensburg-Handewitt after a 32:35 (17:14).

2008/2009 season

In the 2008/09 season of the handball Bundesliga occupied the SHV trained by Zdeněk Vaněk ( Czech Republic ) in 17th place, which meant direct relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga, North Season .

Two out of 34 games were won. The SHV drew twice and lost 30 games. The 801 goals scored were compared to 1196 opposing goals. The two victories were achieved at home with 29:27 against HBW Balingen-Weilstetten and away with 32:21 against TUSEM Essen . The biggest defeats at home were the games against THW Kiel (22:43, in Neubrandenburg) and SG Flensburg-Handewitt (22:43), each with a difference of 21 goals . The highest away defeat was the 16:43 on the last matchday at HSV Hamburg .

In the DHB-Pokal 2008/09 the SHV won its first game in the second round at TV Emsdetten with 30:29 and lost in the next round at THW Kiel with 25:38.

When the license was awarded, the HBL imposed conditions on the club that it was unable to meet on time. Thereupon the HBL refused the Stralsund HV the license for the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga on June 7th, 2009. The action of the Stralsund HV before the arbitration tribunal of the Handball Bundesliga was dismissed on June 23, 2009.

2009/2010 season

In the 2009/2010 season, the Stralsund HV is playing in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Oberliga after the license has been withdrawn and the operating company has gone bankrupt. The title of state champion of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was won early on March 21, 2010 on the 23rd match day; thus the SHV was qualified for the relegation to the newly formed 3rd division against the winner of the Oberliga Berlin-Brandenburg. Against HC Neuruppin a 28:27 away win on May 30, 2010, the second leg on June 5, 2010 in Stralsund, the SHV won with 29:26 and was thus established as a promoted team.

In the DHB Cup 2009/10 the SHV played in the first round at Barmstedter MTV, in the second round the team was eliminated from SV Oebisfelde 1895 after extra time. In the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Handball Cup, the team reached the Final Four, the final round of the last four teams, which the club clearly won on May 2, 2010 and thus also secured the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Handball Association cup after the championship.

The club played its home games in the Diesterweg sports hall, the last home game in the Vogelsanghalle Stralsund , which is familiar from the Bundesliga games, in front of 800 spectators, as did the second leg for eligibility to start in the 3rd division in the sold-out hall.

In the 2010/2011 season the Stralsund HV plays in the 3rd division . The team plays its home games in the Vogelsanghalle Stralsund .

In the handball cup Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the team reached the Final Four, the final round of the last four teams, which the club won on April 17, 2011 in the final game against HSV Peenetal Loitz with 30:21 (16: 9) and thus as in the previous year secured the trophy of the handball association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
