Van Buren County was formed on November 11, 1833 as the 29th County in Arkansas from parts of Conway County, Independence County and Izard County. It was named after the later US - President Martin Van Buren (1782-1862), who at that time vice president was.

Demographic data

According to the 2000 census , Van Buren County had 16,192 people. Of these, 276 people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 6,825 households and 4,804 families.
