The elections and referenda listed here took place or should take place in 2013 . Far from all of the elections listed were conducted according to internationally recognized democratic standards. This list also includes bogus elections in dictatorships with no alternative candidates, elections in which the competing candidates or parties did not have fair, equal access to the mass media and elections in which electoral fraud was practiced.
Due to the large number of elections that are held each year in states or local authorities of states, the list cannot claim to be exhaustive.
