Blue: Countries that held presidential elections in 2012

The elections and referendums listed here took place in nation states in 2012 .

Far from all of the elections listed were conducted according to internationally recognized democratic standards. This list also includes bogus elections in dictatorships with no alternative candidates or elections that have come about through massive electoral fraud or without fair, equal access of the competing candidates or parties to the mass media. Due to the large number of elections that are held worldwide each year, the list cannot claim to be exhaustive. In any case, the aim is to list all elections of at least national importance.
