Charles Borland Junior

Charles Borland junior (born June 29, 1786 in Minisink , New York , † February 23, 1852 in Ward's Bridge , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1821 and 1823 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Borland Jr. was born in Orange County about three years after the War of Independence ended . He completed his undergraduate studies and then graduated from Union College in Schenectady in 1811 . Then he studied law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice. Borland was ten years President in the Board of Trustees in Montgomery . He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1820 and 1821 .

As an opponent of an overly strong central government, he joined the Democratic-Republican Party founded by Thomas Jefferson at that time . He was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the sixth electoral district of New York on November 8, 1821 , to fill the vacancy created by the death of Selah Tuthill .
