Lester Lionel Wolff (born January 4, 1919 in New York City , † May 11, 2021 ) was an American politician . Between 1965 and 1981 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lester Lionel Wolff was born in New York City about two months after the end of World War I. He attended public schools. Between 1939 and 1941 he was a lecturer at New York University , where he had previously studied. After the end of the Second World War , he was head of the marketing department at the Collegiate Institute between 1945 and 1949 . Wolff served in the Civil Air Patrol between 1945 and 1950 and between 1968 and 1980 . He chaired the Board of Coordinated Marketing Agency between 1950 and 1964 . Then he was a member of the Board of Noramco (Dugan's) in 1963 and 1964 and of the Board of Noramco (Dugan's) between 1963 and 1968Madison Life Insurance Co. Wolff also had a television career. He worked as a presenter and producer between 1948 and 1963. In 1962 he took part in the US trade delegation in the Philippines and in 1963 in Malaysia and Hong Kong . In 1957 he chaired the Advisory Committee of the Subcommittee on Consumers Study of the US House of Representatives.

Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . In the 1964 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the third constituency of New York , where he succeeded Steven Derounian on January 4, 1965 . He was re-elected three times in a row. In 1972 , he ran for a seat in Congress in the sixth constituency of New York. After a successful election, he succeeded Seymour Halpern on January 4, 1973 .
