Thomas Kinsella (born December 31, 1832 in County Wexford , Ireland , † February 11, 1884 in Brooklyn ) was a member of the US House of Representatives from New York .

Life

In Ireland born Kinsella emigrated to the United States and settled in New York City , where he attended public schools. After moving to Cambridge , New York in 1851, he learned the printing trade. He then worked at the Cambridge Post . In 1858 Thomas Kinsella went to Brooklyn , where he became editor of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle on September 7, 1861 . In 1866, Kinsella was a postmaster in Brooklyn and a member of the city's water commission and education committee.

Kinsella was elected to the 42nd Congress of the United States of America for Democrats . His term of office lasted from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1873. In the elections for a second term in 1872, he did not run. In 1874 he founded the Brooklyn Daily Sun , which later became part of the Daily Eagle , for which Kinsella worked until his death in Brooklyn in 1884. Thomas Kinsella is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery .
