Henry Crocheron

Henry Crocheron (born December 26, 1772 on Staten Island , New York Province, † November 8, 1819 in New Springville , New York ) was an American politician and officer . Between 1815 and 1817 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Not much information has survived about Henry Crocheron. He attended community schools and then went on to do business in Northfield. Between 1808 and 1814 he served as a supervisor for Northfield. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Republican Party founded by Thomas Jefferson . In the congressional election of 1814 , Crocheron was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of New York , where he succeeded Ebenezer Sage on March 4, 1815 . Since he refused to run again in 1816, he left the Congress after March 3, 1817 . The following year he served as a captain in the New York militia . He died in New Springville on November 8, 1819 and was buried in the Church of St. Andrew's cemetery. His brother was Congressman Jacob Crocheron .
