Frank John Becker (born August 27, 1899 in Brooklyn , New York , † September 4, 1981 in Lynbrook , New York) was an American politician . Between 1953 and 1965 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frank John Becker was born in Brooklyn in the late 19th century. His family moved to Lynbrook in November 1905. He attended public schools there and then Brown's Business College in Jamaica . During the First World War he enlisted in the US Army on July 22, 1918 and served in France and Great Britain in the following time . On September 22, 1919, he was released from the Army. He then worked in the insurance business in Lynbrook. Between 1945 and 1953 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . He was a director and later chairman of the Board of Suburbia Federal Savings & Loan Association . Between 1952 and 1964 he attended every Republican National Convention as a delegate . Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the 1952 congressional elections he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of New York , where he succeeded Henry J. Latham on January 4, 1953 . He was re-elected four times in a row. In 1962 , he ran for a seat in Congress in the fifth constituency of New York. After a successful election, he succeeded Joseph Patrick Addabbo on January 4, 1963 . Since he refused to run again in 1964 , he resigned from Congress after January 3, 1965 . As a Congressman, he has served on several committees and subcommittees: Committee on Ways and Means , Armed Services Committee (including the Subcommittee of Research and Development ), Joint Legislative Committee for the Study of Military Law, and Charitable and Religions Societies Committee .

He died on September 4, 1981 in Lynbrook and was then buried in Pine Lawn National Cemetery in Pinelawn .
