Thomas M. Woodruff

Thomas M. Woodruff (born May 3, 1804 in New Jersey , † March 28, 1855 in New York City ) was an American politician . Between 1845 and 1847 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas M. Woodruff was born in New Jersey in the early 19th century. Politically, he was a member of the American Party . In the congressional elections of 1844 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of New York , where he succeeded Moses G. Leonard on March 4, 1845 . He retired from the after March 3, 1847 Congress of. During his time as a member of Congress, the Mexican-American War broke out. After the end of his tenure, he worked as a carpenter and later worked in the furniture business in New York City. He died there on March 28, 1855 and was buried in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Newark, New Jersey.
