Peter P. Mahoney

Peter Paul Mahoney (born June 25, 1848 in New York City , † March 27, 1889 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1885 and 1889 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After graduating from New York City community schools, Mahoney went into clothing stores for several years . He moved to the then still independent city of Brooklyn , where he worked in the liquor trade. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . In the congressional election of 1884 Mahoney was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of New York , where he succeeded Felix Campbell on March 4, 1885 . Since he on a run again in 1886 renounced, he left the after 3 March 1887 Congress of. Mahoney fell ill during the inauguration ceremony of President Benjamin Harrison on March 4, 1889 heavy and died just three weeks later. His body was in the Calvary Cemetery in Long Iceland City ( Queens buried).
