Harry H. Dale

Harry Howard Dale (born December 3, 1868 in New York City , † November 17, 1935 in Bellmore , New York ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1913 and 1919 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Harry Howard Dale was born in New York City about three years after the Civil War ended . His family moved to the then independent city of Brooklyn . He attended public schools there and the New York Law School . He was admitted to the bar on May 14, 1891 and then began practicing in Brooklyn. Between 1899 and 1904 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . He served as an attorney for the State Comptroller in 1911 and 1912 .

Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . In the 1912 congressional elections , Dale was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the fourth constituency of New York , where he succeeded Frank E. Wilson on March 4, 1913 . He was re-elected twice in a row. On January 6, 1919, he resigned from his Congressional seat to accept an appointment as judge on the Magistrates' Court .

He was reappointed in 1929 and served there from January 7, 1919 through July 21, 1931. On July 22, 1931, he was appointed judge of the New York Court of Special Sessions , a position he held until his death on May 17 , 1931 . November 1935 held in Bellmore. His body was cremated and the ashes were interred in the Fresh Pond Road Crematory in Brooklyn.
