Michael Forbes
Michael Patrick Forbes (born July 16, 1952 in Riverhead , New York ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 2001 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Michael Patrick Forbes graduated from Westhampton Beach High School in Westhampton in 1970 and from the State University of New York in Albany in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts . He worked in his family's newspaper business in Riverhead. Then in 1971 he managed the Suffolk County Legislature Campaign. He sat on the staff of the United States Republican Senators Alphonse M. D'Amato from New York and Connie Mack from Florida . He held the same position with the speaker Perry B. Duryea junior and the MP John Behan from the New York State Assembly and Caesar Trunzo from the New York Senate . He worked in small business administration . He worked as a regional director in New York and then as principal liaison between the US House of Representatives and the United States Chamber of Commerce . In the 1994 congressional election , Forbes was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of New York , where he succeeded George J. Hochbrueckner on January 4, 1995 . He was re-elected twice in a row. During this time he joined the Democratic Party in 1999 . In 2000 he suffered a defeat in its fourth re-election bid and was eliminated from the after Jan. 3, 2001 Congress of. He then opened his own company and has been working in public relations ever since . He also blogs for the Huffington Post .
