George Clinton Junior
George Clinton junior (born June 6, 1771 in New York City , † September 16, 1809 ) was an American politician . Between 1805 and 1809 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
George Clinton Jr. was born and raised in New York City about four years before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War . Nothing is known about his private life about this. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Republican Party founded by Thomas Jefferson . In 1801 he took part as a delegate to the Constituent Assembly of New York. He then sat in the New York State Assembly in 1804 and 1805 . He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC on February 14, 1805 in the third electoral district of New York to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Samuel L. Mitchill in the eighth and ninth Congress . In the following congressional elections in 1806 he was re-elected in the third district. Clinton renounced another candidacy in 1808 and resigned on March 3, 1809 from Congress . He died on September 16, 1809 in New York City.

George Clinton junior was the son of Major General James Clinton (1736-1812) and the nephew of Vice President George Clinton (1739-1812). He was the brother of DeWitt Clinton (1769-1828), US Senator from New York, and half-brother of Congressman James G. Clinton (1804-1849).
