Creme 21 Youngtimer Rally

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Creme 21 Youngtimer Rallye is the name of the largest, only multi-day and national rally in Germany for vehicles whose series was offered between 1970 and 1990.

history

Which according to Auto Zeitung "most famous and largest classic cars rally in Germany" is an idea in 2001 of four car enthusiasts from the city of Oldenburg (Oldb) and became in the wake of the passage of the 2000 km through Germany born. The four men liked the cars of their youth ( VW Karmann-Ghia , Opel Rekord C , Ford Taunus , etc.). However, you were rarely allowed to take part in a classic car rally with these vehicles , as they were usually not of an age corresponding to the regulations (usually 30 years or older). The name should be reminiscent of a product typical of the era of the vehicles, which at the time the name was found, had not been available for a long time, the Creme 21 cosmetic series . When the Creme 21 Youngtimer Rally already existed, the cosmetics brand was "revived" by the then newly founded Creme 21 GmbH , which from then on appeared as a sponsor of the event.

In 2002 the Youngtimer Club e. V. founded with the aim of organizing a tourist rally for cars. According to the regulations, the car series must have been on the market between 1970 and 1990. According to the requirements of a reliability trip, there are hidden transit controls. These are only used secondarily to monitor compliance with the route. First and foremost, the drivers are checked for their functionality here - by means of tasks that are aimed at the knowledge, dexterity and senses of the respective driver team.

It always begins with an opening evening on Wednesday. The respective Thursday, Friday and Saturday are full driving days with daily stages between 200 km and 350 km. Sunday is only driven until noon / early afternoon. The routes are chosen so that they offer the greatest possible driving challenge and tourist attractions.

On June 26th, 2002 it started for the first time with a total of 45 vehicles. The start was in Oldenburg (Oldb) . Then it went on: Osnabrück - Bielefeld - Oberhausen . The event ended on June 30, 2002 in Bottrop in the Warner Brothers Movie World . The starting field now includes around 230 vehicles (as of 2016). From 2003 to 2006, the start and finish was always in a different city; In 2007 this tradition was (for the first time) broken once.

Route from 2002

In the years 2002 to 2005 the start was always on the last weekend in June. Because of the 2006 soccer World Cup in Germany, they were on the road from September 13, 2006 to September 17, 2006; the September date has been retained since then.

The next Creme 21 Youngtimer Rally will take place in the Munich area in September 2020.
