The Football League Second Division 1927/28 was the 32nd season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 27, 1927 and ended on May 5, 1928.

Second division champions were Manchester City and also the second-placed Leeds United rose to the Football League First Division . In the following second division season 1928/29, the two first division clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough FC, ranked in the table below, took the places for the two promoted teams . From the Second Division had to relegate the FC Fulham and the FC South Shields , with the FC South Shields from now on in the North Season Football League Third Division North and Fulham in the Football League Third Division South had to compete. Instead of the two clubs in the following season 1928/29 Third Division North champions Bradford Park Avenue and from the Third Division South of the winner Millwall FC took the vacant positions.
