history

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the place already existed as a place with a courtyard in 1715 and was called Hau . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Hau . It shows that at that time Hau was part of the Bechen Honschaft in the parish of Kürten in the district court of Kürten.

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the Steinbach office was dissolved and the place was politically assigned to the municipality of Bechen in the Mairie Kürten in the canton of Wipperfürth in the Elberfeld arrondissement . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Kürten in the Wipperfürth district .

At that time Hau belonged to the municipality of Bechen.

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Hau and on the Prussian first survey from 1840 as courtyards . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded as Hau on measuring table sheets .

In 1822 seven people lived in the place categorized as a house and referred to as Hau . The place, which was categorized as a house in 1845 according to the overview of the government district of Cologne , had a residential building at that time. At that time, nine people lived in the place called Hau, all of them of Catholic faith. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province lists Hau in 1871 with two houses and ten residents. In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888, two houses with ten inhabitants are given in the municipality of Bechen. Another part of the village with one house and four residents belongs to the municipality of Kürten. In 1895 the place had two houses and eleven inhabitants in the Bechen part and a house with four inhabitants in the Kürten part. In 1905 the place had two houses and 13 residents in Bechen and five houses with 26 residents in Kürten.

In 1927 the mayor's office in Kürten was transferred to the office of Kürten. In the Weimar Republic in 1929 the offices of Kürten were merged with the municipalities of Kürten and Bechen and Olpe with the municipalities of Olpe and Wipperfeld to form the office of Kürten. The district of Wipperfürth became part of the Rheinisch-Bergisch district with its seat in Bergisch Gladbach on October 1, 1932. In 1975, the Cologne Act resulted in  today's municipality of Kürten, which includes the departments of Kürten, Bechen and Olpe as part of the city of Bensberg Dürscheid and the surrounding areas came.
