Neighboring towns are Brod in the north, Heřmanice , Pelcovský Dvůr and Čáslavky in the northeast, Jakubské Předměstí in the southeast, Jaroměř and Cíhelny in the south, Horní Dolce, Vestec and Zaloňov in the west and Nový Kašov and Slotov in the northwest.

history

Hořenice was first mentioned in a document in 1500. Since the 15th century, the fortress existed as the seat of the Hořan Vladiken family . After Matthes von Hořan sold the village and festivals to the hospitals of the royal trousseau towns Dvůr Králové nad Labem and Jaroměř , Jaroměř paid Dvůr Králové's share in 1502 and became the sole owner of the village.

Ferdinand I confiscated Hořenice in 1547 because of the disobedience of the town Jaroměř in the Turkish Wars . Two years later, the village was returned to Jaroměř from the crown property. In the years that followed, the Jaroměř Council had the old fortress of the Lords of Hořan replaced by a new one-storey fortress, which became the seat of a town bailiff. At the end of the 16th century, the Horschenitzer mill was built southeast of the village in the Elbe valley. The berní rula shows 10 properties for Hořenice. In 1785 the village had 211 inhabitants, plus the nine inhabitants of the Horschenitzer mill. Horschenitz remained subservient to the city of Jaroměř until the patrimonial rule was abolished.

In 1850 Horschenitz formed a parish in the Dvůr Králové nad Labem district. After 1900 a textile factory was built in the village. This became the largest employer in Horschenitz. The Jarkovský brick factory also existed. After the textile factory was closed, most of the residents worked in the Ettrich factory in Jaroměř. After the Second World War, the community was reclassified to Okres Jaroměř. At the beginning of 1961 it was incorporated into Heřmanice and in the course of the dissolution of Okres Jaroměř, the village came to Okres Náchod. The village of Hořenice has existed again since September 1, 1990.
