Livingston County was formed in 1837. It was named after Edward Livingston (1764-1836), a former US Secretary of State .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Livingston County had 15,195 people in 5,688 households. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.44 people lived in each of the 5688 households.
The racial the population was composed of 95.3 percent white, 2.7 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.2 percent were descended from two or more races.
