The Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi 1993/94 was the 31st season of the second highest Turkish league in professional men's football. It was started on August 29, 1993 with the 1st game day of the qualifying round and completed on June 6, 1993 with the 18th game day of the relegation round.
In the 1993/94 season, the second-highest division was played in two stages, as in the previous season. In the 1st stage, the league was played in a qualifying round (Turkish Kademe Grupları ) in five groups of ten teams each with home and away games. After the end of the 1st stage, the first two teams from all groups were included in a common group, the promotion round (Turkish Yükselme Grubu ), and played here for promotion to the 1st Lig . The remaining teams in the five groups of the qualifying round played in an unchanged group constellation now in a relegation round (Turkish Düşme Grupları ) against relegation to the 3rd Lig . Both the promotion round and the relegation round represented the 2nd stage and were played with two legs.
The teams in the first three places in the promotion round rose directly to the 1st Lig and the last two teams in all groups in the relegation round relegated to the 3rd Lig. While the points from the qualifying round were not taken into the promotion round, they were counted unchanged in the relegation round. In the preseason there was a trend that the relegation round quickly lost its attractiveness for viewers and the media. Many teams secured themselves relegation very early and then played aimlessly in front of empty stands. In addition, several players were given up because they wanted to save unnecessary costs. In order to increase the attractiveness of the league, it was decided to introduce a third stage in the form of a play-off round in addition to the existing constellation. The teams ranked four to six of the promotion round and all group winners the descent groups should in the knockout system play out the remaining climbers. In the summer of 1994, the number of teams in the 1st league should be increased from 16 to 18. To ensure this, there should be five promoters instead of the three relegated members. The two additional climbers were played off in the 1993/94 season via the play-offs. The play-offs were played at the end of the group stage in a city that was neutral for all teams.
The first stage began with the start of the season on August 29, 1993 and ended with the winter break on December 26, 1993. The following second stage then started on January 23, 1994 and ended on May 22, 1994. The third and last stage, in which the play-offs were played was held from May 28, 1994 to May 31, 1994 in Ankara in the Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium .
Beginning of the season were the remaining from the previous season 37 teams, the three relegated from the 1. Lig Bakirköyspor , Aydınspor and Konyaspor and the ten climbers from the then third-rate third Lig Adiyamanspor , Giresunspor , Hatayspor , Yeni Sincanspor , Eskişehirspor , Çorumspor , İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor , Çorluspor , Çanakkale Dardanelspor and Yeni Turgutluspor have been added.
Petrol Ofisi SK finished the season as champions and thus made the first promotion in the club's history to the highest Turkish league. The table places two and three occupied Denizlispor and Vanspor and also rose directly to the 1st Lig . While Denizlispor rose back to the 1st Lig after seven years of abstinence, Vanspor managed the first participation in the club's history in the 1st Lig. Antalyaspor and Adana Demirspor rose to the 1st Lig via the play-offs . Antalyaspor played again in the first league after eight seasons. At the end of the season, Yalovaspor and Eyüpspor were relegated from Group 1, Sökespor and Ayvalıkgücü from Group 2, Yeni Yozgatspor and Kütahyaspor from Group 3, PTT and Ünyespor from Group 4 and Muşspor and İskenderunspor from Group 5.
The association Çanakkalespor Kulübü , Çanakkalespor for short , changed its name to Çanakkale Dardanel Spor Kulübü , Çanakkale Dardanelspor for short . The two climbers Sincanspor Kulübü and Turgutluspor Kulübü shortly Nazillispor or Turgutluspor , changed its name in Yeni Sincanspor Kulübü or Yeni Turgutluspor Kulübü shortly Yeni Sincanspor (dt .: The New Sincanspor ) and Yeni Turgutluspor (dt .: The New Turgutluspor ), around.
Eskişehirspor and Adanaspor were deducted three points during the qualifying round due to fan riots. For the same reasons, Muşspor was deducted three points in the relegation round.
The league's top scorers were Halim Okta from Antalyaspor and Fevzi Gündoğdu from Denizlispor with 21 goals .
