The season 2016/17 the A-Junior Bundesliga was the 14th season of the A-Junior Bundesliga .

As in the previous 13 seasons, it was played in the North / Northeast, South / Southwest and West seasons. At the end of the season, the three season winners and the runner-up in the West season played for the German A-Juniors football championship . The semi-finals were played back and forth, the final in one game. The three last-placed teams of the three seasons relegated to the subordinate leagues.

Borussia Dortmund started the season as the reigning German champions . The BVB juniors were able to defend their title in the final against FC Bayern Munich with an 8: 7 win on penalties.

Season north / northeast

A-Juniors Bundesliga 2016/17 (North / Northeast relay)

As champions of the A-Youth Regional Leagues North and Northeast in the preseason, VfL Osnabrück and Dynamo Dresden took part in the A-Junior Bundesliga as direct promoters. The runners-up of both regional leagues, JFV Nordwest and 1. FC Union Berlin , played the third promoted team in a relegation . JFV Nordwest was able to prevail with 2: 2 and 8: 7 afterwards (3: 3 afterwards).

    From the subordinate leagues, FC Viktoria Köln rose as a representative of the A-Jugend-Verbandsliga Mittelrhein, Arminia Bielefeld as a representative of the A-Jugend-Verbandsliga Westfalen and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen from the A-Jugend-Verbandsliga Niederrhein in the A-Juniors-Bundesliga on.

    As direct promoters, FC Augsburg came from the A-Youth Bayern League and the Stuttgarter Kickers from the A-Youth Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in the A-Junior Bundesliga. The champions of the A-Jugend-Regionalliga Südwest, 1. FC Kaiserslautern , and the A-Jugend-Hessenliga, FSV Frankfurt , played the third climber in a relegation . Here Kaiserslautern was able to prevail with 5: 0 and 2: 1.

    The champions of all seasons as well as the second-placed team in the West season qualified for the final round of the German championship.

    The first leg of the first semi-final took place on May 9, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in the AOK Stadium in Wolfsburg, the second leg on May 15, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the BVB Hohenbuschei football park in Dortmund. The first leg of the second semi-final took place on May 10, 2017 at 4 p.m. in the municipal stadium on Grünwalder Strasse in Munich, the second leg took place on May 16, 2017 at 5:45 p.m. in the Lohrheidestadion in Wattenscheid.
