history
Archaeological finds, which are mainly attributable to the Aunjetitz culture , prove that the Litava valley has been settled since the Bronze Age .
The owners of the village were the lords of Deblín in the 13th century. The first documentary mention of Vážany took place in 1284 when Janáč from Deblín's widow gave patronage over the St. Bartholomew's Church to the Olomouc Dominican monastery of St. Katharina donated. In 1318 Katharina, the widow of Tas von Lomnice, sold Vážany to the Herburg monastery Marienzelle in Brno . After the abolition of the Marienzelle monastery in 1587, the village fell to the Bohemian Crown . Emperor Rudolf II left the Herburg monastery to the Jesuit order . In the course of time the place was referred to as Waschan , Wazan and Dlouhé Važany . The oldest local seal dates from 1619. In 1645 the village was burned down by the Swedes and the dike of the fish pond was pierced. After the Jesuit ban of 1773, the property of the Brno Jesuit College fell to the kk study fund. In 1808, Franz Anton Linhart, who was later raised to hereditary knighthood, acquired the property. After his death in 1828 the inheritance fell to his son Ferdinand von Linhart. The school location was Šaratice; In 1810 a branch of the Šaratic school was established in Vážany. In 1830 they moved into their own school building. From 1839 the school in Vážany was independent of the one in Šaratice.
After the replacement of patrimonial Dlouhé Važany formed from 1850 a community in the district administration Wischau . In 1873 Ferdinand von Linhart's daughter Roza Karafiátová and Leopold von Linhart jointly inherited the property. The two-class school operation began in 1885. At the end of the 19th century, the official place name Linhartské Vážany prevailed. From 1908 the first class was taught in a branch office. After the end of the Second World War, the Linhartské Vážany community became Vážany nad Litavou in 1945 , as the name of the German knight family Linhart no longer appeared as part of the place name. Between 1949 and 1959 the community was assigned to the Okres Slavkov and came back to the Okres Vyškov after it was abolished . In 1979 the school was closed. Vážany nad Litavou was incorporated into Slavkov u Brna in 980 . In 1990 the village broke up again and formed its own community. In 1991 teaching was resumed in Vážany nad Litavou. In 2004 the remains of two German soldiers were exhumed and buried in the cemetery.
