==Attributes of Global Destiny Cable Service==

*Signal delivery is done through fiber-optic cables

*GDC has an extensive network of after-sales branch offices assigned to specific locations in Metro Manila for faster response to cable service requests.

*There is a tendency for service to be delayed when the problem occurred on a weekend.

*Pixeling of satellite TV signals sometimes happens mostly with Taiwanese channels.

*Some branches have at best a sloppy record of customer service, with hotlines barely made available for the complaints of nearby subscribers, requiring them to call Makati main office for faster service request.

Global Destiny Cable is a direct-to-home cable TV subscription service. Global Destiny Cable is the 2nd Largest cable TV company in the Philippines; they are serving almost all major cities in Metro Manila and have affiliates almost all-around the Philippines.[1]

History

In January 1995,[2] the Philippines’ commission attached to the Department of Transportation and Communications, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) granted a certificate of public convenience and necessity/provisional authority to install, operate and maintain telecommunications, broadcast and cable antenna television services to Destiny Cable Inc. and allowed to provide cable television services to Metropolitan Manila and nearby municipalities, cities and provinces.

Destiny Cable Inc. embarked on marketing promotion through Solid Group Inc.[3] by offering bundles services: cable television and electronic products and facilitated the latter to build up a distinctive spot in the cable industry. Solid Group Inc. was then known for manufacturing and marketing the leading brands in electronic products.

Global Cable Inc. pre-merger

On February 3, 1993, Global Cable Inc. was given a provisional authority to provide cable television services. The National Telecommunications Commission granted Global Cable Inc a certificate authority to construct, install, maintain and operate a Cable Antenna Television (CATV) System in San Pedro, Laguna on May 1993. Consequently, Global Cable Inc. was also allowed operate and maintain a CATV system in the municipality of San Juan and in the cities of Mandaluyong,[4] Makati, Pasay, Manila, Marikina,[5] Paranaque and Muntinlupa.

Destiny Cable merged with Global Cable

In November 2003[6] Destiny Cable forged a partnership[7] with Global Cable Inc. to further strengthen and systematize its cable television venture and begun working under the new entity name of Global Destiny Cable TV. The merger made Global Destiny Cable as the second largest CATV operator in the Philippines, and it maintains a particular niche in the cable television industry composed mostly of Asian TV lovers.

Today, Global Destiny Cable is perceived to be the closest competitor of SkyCable[8] in Metropolitan Manila. Both have their own associates all over the country and both offer high-speed cable Internet service[9] to its respective subscribers.
