On a hill about 500 m southwest of the village (386 m above sea level) there is an old water tank from 1898, on which an 8.4 m high wooden observation tower was built in 1980 by the Association of Rosenfreunde Schmitshausen eV and the local beautification association . From the upper, roofed viewing platform at a height of 5.8 m you have a good view over the hilly landscape of the Sickinger Höhe up to the Hunsrück .
