The Brown County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Minnesota . In 2010 , the county had 25,893 residents and a population density of 16.4 people per square kilometer. The administrative seat ( county seat ) is New Ulm , which was named after the origin of the first settlers from Germany.

The county is located in southern Minnesota at the confluence of the Cottonwood River with the Minnesota River , which borders the county to the northeast. It has an area of 1602 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water. The following neighboring counties border Brown County:

history
Brown County was formed on February 20, 1855 from parts of Blue Earth County. It was named after Joseph Renshaw Brown , a pioneer in the area.
