Charles A. Kading

Charles August Kading (born January 14, 1874 in Lowell , Dodge County , Wisconsin , †  June 19, 1956 in Watertown , Wisconsin) was an American politician . Between 1927 and 1933 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Kading attended public schools in his home country including Horicon High School . He then studied at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1900, he began to work in Watertown in his new profession. At the same time he was also involved in agriculture. Between 1905 and 1912 he was the legal representative of the city of Watertown and from 1906 at the same time district attorney in Dodge County. He then served as Mayor of Watertown from 1914 to 1916.

Kading was a member of the Republican Party . In the 1926 congressional elections he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Wisconsin , where he succeeded Edward Voigt on March 4, 1927 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1933 . Shortly before the end of his term in office, the 20th amendment to the constitution was passed, which redefined the legislative periods of the Congress and the President.

For the elections in 1932 Charles Kading was no longer nominated by his party. In the following years up to his death in 1956 he worked again as a lawyer.
