Harry W. Griswold

Harry Wilbur Griswold (born May 19, 1886 in West Salem , La Crosse County , Wisconsin , † July 4, 1939 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . In 1939 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Harry Griswold attended public schools in his home country and then studied agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison . In the following years he worked in this branch, specializing in cattle breeding. Between 1912 and 1929 Griswold was a member of the West Salem School Committee. From 1930 to 1936 he worked in the state commission for vocational training.

Politically, Griswold was a member of the Republican Party . He was a member of the Wisconsin Senate from 1932 to 1936 . In the congressional election of 1938 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the third constituency of his state, where he succeeded Gardner R. Withrow on January 3, 1939 . Harry Griswold was unable to end his legislative term in Congress, which actually ran until January 3, 1941 , as he died on July 4, 1939. He was buried in West Salem.
