Henry C. Schadeberg
Henry Carl Schadeberg (born October 12, 1913 in Manitowoc , Wisconsin , † December 11, 1985 in Rockbridge Baths , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1961 and 1965 and again from 1967 to 1971 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Henry Schadeberg attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1938 Carroll College in Waukesha . He then studied until 1941 at the Garrett Biblical Institute in Evanston ( Illinois ). After that he became a clergyman. During the Second World War and the Korean War , he was a military chaplain in the US Navy . He was then a member of the Navy Reserve until 1969.
Politically, Schadeberg was a member of the Republican Party . In the 1960 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Wisconsin , where he succeeded Democrat Gerald T. Flynn on January 3, 1961 , whom he had defeated in the election. After being re-elected, he was initially able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1965 . During this time the Vietnam War began . In 1961, the 23rd Amendment to the Constitution was passed in the House of Representatives.
In the 1964 elections, Schadeberg was defeated by the Democrat Lynn E. Stalbaum . Since 1960 he has been a delegate on several occasions at the regional party conventions of the Republicans in Wisconsin. In 1964 he attended the Republican National Convention as a delegate ; In 1966 he was re-elected to Congress in the first district of Wisconsin. There he replaced Lynn Stalbaum on January 3, 1967. After re-election in 1968, he could remain in the US House of Representatives until January 3, 1971, where the 25th Amendment to the Constitution was passed in 1967 .
In the 1970 elections, Henry Schadeberg was defeated by the Democrat Les Aspin . Then he withdrew from politics. He died on December 11, 1985 in Rockbridge Baths, where he had since moved.
