Edward Sauerhering (born June 24, 1864 in Mayville , Dodge County , Wisconsin , †  March 1, 1924 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1899 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Edward Sauerhering attended public schools in his home country and then the Chicago College of Pharmacy . He then worked in the Chicago pharmacy business for three years before returning to Mayville. There he worked in the same industry. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1894 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Wisconsin , where he succeeded Democrat Charles Barwig on March 4, 1895 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1899 . During this time the Spanish-American War of 1898 fell .

In 1898, sour herring declined to run again. Between 1909 and 1918 he was head of the commission in Mayville that dealt with public labor measures. He also dealt with the construction of waterworks. From 1912 to 1920 he was also a justice of the peace in his hometown. Edward sour herring died on March 1, 1924 in Mayville, where he was buried.
