Elmer A. Morse

Elmer Addison Morse (born May 11, 1870 in Franksville , Racine County , Wisconsin , †  October 4, 1945 in Rochester , Minnesota ) was an American politician . Between 1907 and 1913 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Elmer Morse attended Racine County public schools. He then studied at Ripon College until 1893 . In 1893 and 1895 he was elected school overseer in Racine County. After completing a law degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and being admitted to the bar in 1900, he began working in his new profession in Antigo . Between 1900 and 1906 he was also the legal representative of this city. Morse worked in the insurance and real estate industries from 1900 until his death.

Politically, Morse was a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1906 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the tenth constituency of Wisconsin , where he succeeded Webster E. Brown on March 4, 1907 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1913 . In 1912 he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party.

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Morse returned to working as a lawyer in Antigo. In 1934 and 1940 he was a delegate to regional Republican party conventions in Wisconsin. Elmer Morse died in Rochester on October 4, 1945 and was buried in Antigo.
