Ezra Wheeler

Ezra Wheeler (born December 23, 1820 in Chenango County , New York , †  September 19, 1871 in Pueblo , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1863 and 1865 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After elementary school, Ezra Wheeler attended Union College in Schenectady until 1842 . In 1849 he moved to Berlin , Wisconsin. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in this city in his new profession. Between 1854 and 1862 he was a district judge in the local Green Lake County .

Wheeler was a member of the Democratic Party . In 1853 he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly . In the congressional election of 1862 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the then newly created fifth constituency of Wisconsin , where he took up his new mandate on March 4, 1863. Until March 3, 1865 he then completed a legislative period in Congress . This was shaped by the events of the civil war .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Wheeler returned to work as a lawyer in Berlin. In 1870 he moved to Pueblo, Colorado for health reasons. There he worked in the land registry office from June 1871. He died just a few months later on September 19 of this year and was buried in his former home in Berlin.
