Mark Pocan (born August 14, 1964 in Kenosha , Wisconsin ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . Since January 3, 2013, he has represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Life

Pocan studied journalism at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . After graduating, he opened his own company in the printing industry . His first political mandate was as a member of the Board of Supervisors in Dane County from 1991 to 1996.

From January 3, 1999 to late 2012, he was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly , replacing Tammy Baldwin . November 6, 2012, he succeeded as MP for the second electoral district of Wisconsin in Congress collect; here, too, he succeeded Baldwin, who at the same time won the election as US Senator . He took up his new mandate on January 3, 2013. After two re-elections so far in 2014 and 2016, he can continue to exercise his office today. His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.

Pocan lives in Madison with his partner Philip Frank.
