Steve Kagen

Steven Leslie "Steve" Kagen (born December 12, 1949 in Appleton , Wisconsin ) is an American politician . Between 2007 and 2011 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Steve Kagen first attended Appleton East High School and then studied at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . After a subsequent medical degree at the same university and his admission as a doctor in 1976, he began to work in his new profession. He specialized in allergies and became the founder of four allergy clinics in Appleton, Green Bay , Fond du Lac and Oshkosh . In doing so, he gained some new knowledge in the areas of allergies and asthma in medical research . For seven years he also acted as the sole allergy advisor to CNN television . Kagen was meanwhile also a professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee .

Politically, Kagen joined the Democratic Party . In the 2006 congressional election , he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of Wisconsin , where he succeeded Republican Mark Andrew Green on January 3, 2007 . After a re-election in 2008, he was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 2011. There he was a member of the Agriculture Committee and the Transport and Infrastructure Committee as well as five sub-committees. In the 2010 election he was defeated by Republican Reid Ribble . The election result was in line with the federal trend in favor of the Republican Party.

Steve Kagen is married to Gayle Kagen. The couple lives in Appleton.
