Gerald Thomas Flynn (born October 7, 1910 in Racine County , Wisconsin , †  May 14, 1990 in Racine , Wisconsin) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1961 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Gerald Flynn attended his homeland public schools including Racine High School . After a subsequent law degree at the Law School of Marquette University and his admission as a lawyer in 1933, he began to work in Racine in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1940 and 1960 he was a delegate to all Democratic National Conventions ; from 1950 to 1954 he was a member of the Wisconsin Senate .

In the 1958 congressional election he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Wisconsin , where he succeeded the late Lawrence H. Smith of the Republican Party on January 3, 1959 . Since he was defeated by Republican Henry C. Schadeberg in the 1960 elections, he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1961 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Gerald Flynn withdrew from politics. In the following years he worked again as a lawyer. He died on May 14, 1990 in his hometown of Racine.
