The Comanche County is a county in the US state of Oklahoma . At the 2010 census , the county had 124,098 residents and a population density of 44.8 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Lawton .
geography
The county is located in southwest Oklahoma, about 25 miles south of Texas and covers an area of 2,807 square kilometers, of which 38 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Comanche County was formed in 1901 from parts of the Oklahoma Territory. The county was settled by white settlers after an official land lottery on August 1, 1901. It was named after the North American Indian people of the Comanches .
The county has a National Historic Landmark , Fort Sill . 32 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of May 28, 2018).
